In early 2007, Microsoft released Office 2007 for Windows, which is a major upgrade from Office 2003. Office 2008 for Mac is scheduled to be released in late 2007. Please be aware that there are significant changes in both the user interface and the file formats. The user interface has changed to a toolbar, as opposed to the menus used in the past. You should plan to invest some time in learning to use the toolbar efficiently. By default Office 2007 applications save documents with new file formats that cannot be read by Windows Office 2003 or Macintosh Office 2004 or any older version. Before you begin using Office 2007, we strongly urge you to familiarize yourself with the issues regarding file formats and file compatibility. This overview provides a brief explanation of the new product and describes the issues surrounding it.
